Launch YC: Scout Out: run your construction business from one place

"The all-in-one platform for contractors who want to stop juggling spreadsheets, texts, and sticky notes."
TL;DR: Residential contractors juggle dozens of moving pieces — estimates, plans, takeoffs, proposals, change orders, documents — across spreadsheets, email threads, and sticky notes. Scout Out is the all-in-one AI-powered project management platform built specifically for construction, automating the busywork so contractors can focus on building. Scout Out contractors one platform to manage every job — with AI that handles takeoffs, clients, crew, and documents in minutes, not hours.

Ask: If you know residential contractors, remodelers, or builders drowning in admin work, the team would love an intro.

Founded by Nolan Rossi

Nolan (Founder & CEO) – triple majored in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Astrophysics, and Business Administration through UC Berkeley’s M.E.T. program, graduating in three years. He previously worked as a software development engineer at Amazon and ran a software consultancy he scaled to $250k in revenue. As a fourth-generation member of a family construction business, Nolan saw firsthand how difficult it is for contractors to consistently find new work — and how little time they have to sit down and bid on projects while managing active jobs. Scout Out was built to solve that problem.

❌ The Problem

Residential contractors are running complex businesses on a patchwork of tools that were never built for construction.

  • Project management is fragmented. Plans live in email. Estimates live in spreadsheets. Photos live on phones. Proposals get copy-pasted from old Word docs. Nothing talks to anything else.
  • Estimating is slow and error-prone. Reading through plans, measuring takeoffs, pricing labor and materials, then assembling a professional proposal — this process takes hours and still produces mistakes. Contractors either underbid to win, or overbid to be safe, and lose anyway.
  • AI tools exist but aren't built for construction. Generic project management software ignores the realities of field work — plan sets, per-page takeoffs, scope changes mid-build, subcontractor coordination.
  • Contractors end up duct-taping tools together and paying the price in margin and stress.

The result: Jobs are won with incomplete bids, managed with ad-hoc systems, and closed with manual paperwork that eats hours contractors don't have.
