We started Fondo as a small team in San Francisco after nearly losing our previous company.
Before Fondo, we were running a YC startup that almost missed payroll. We lost visibility into cash, and the tools we relied on couldn’t answer basic questions like burn or runway.
By the time we understood the problem, we had weeks left.
Instead of shutting down, we pivoted.
The first version of Fondo had no software — just a landing page, spreadsheets, and manual bookkeeping. That unscalable start forced us to deeply understand founders’ real financial pain.
Fondo was built from those lessons.
